About Our Club
Delta Kaigan Judo is a Judo BC sanctioned club, founded in September 2005 as a not-for-profit organization serving the
communities of Delta and Surrey, in British Columbia (BC) Canada. Our founding members are
Corey Lapell, Mark Staines, Jan Karnik, Bruce Fingarson, Marco Pasin
and Dave Hocking. Our NCCP trained and certified instructors are committed to promoting
the Olympic sport of judo and supporting developing athletes and martial artists on their journey of discovery.
The emphasis of our classes includes recreational judo as well as a competitive program headed by 3-time Canadian
champion and World Championship competitor, Jan Karnik.
Delta Kaigan is a not-for-profit dojo and our instructional staff are all volunteers. All revenues are directed toward our four primary goals:
- Developing a first rate judo club that provides for the training needs of competitors and recreational judoka alike in a fun, friendly, family atmosphere.
- Support our athletes in their judo development by funding special training and competitions where possible.
- Promoting the sport of judo as a competitive sport and recreational passtime for people of all ages.
- Providing a fun, safe environment for judoka of all ages to learn Judo.
We have members from ages 8 to 60, with all levels of belts from white (Rokyu) to 1st degree black (Shodan) and higher.
We welcome both beginner and experienced judoka.
